Hope Kids Charity Quilt

Here's the quilt I'm currently working on for the next Hope Kids auction in April. I saw this quilt on another blog and have requested the name of the pattern so I can give credit to the designer. I've made mine different in that I have a solid border. The other quilt had a nice pieced border made with strips and cornerstones of pieced blocks.

I was going to put the blue border on without an inner border but I really like a little black and white there. However, I am not happy with what photo shows so I think I will go out and get a nice black and white stripe. I think that will set it off nicely. Anyway, if I can't find a good stripe I may just leave that inner border off.

Not so sure I like the check...it reminds me of auto racing...lol Not that there is anything wrong with that but I don't want this to read as a "boy" quilt. I don't know why I didn't take that check down before I took the photo! Also, unfortunately the photo doesn't quite show the brightness of the fabrics.

Cindy... If you find a black/white stripe inner border doesn't suit you, why not try either a bright yellow or orange to provide the separation you're looking for and give it a little pop? Just a thought!

I tried a yellow and wasn't thrilled with it. I thought about orange too. I'll have to dig through my stash again to see if I have something that works. The reason I want the black and white is because I used small pieces of those colors in the quilt and thought it would tie in nicely. But....I may just leave out the inner border and call it a day!

Do you have any of the zig-zag black and white fabric left? Or maybe something with both yellow and orange in it? I'm sure it would be good without the inner border, though... I just tend to be an "inner border" kinda gal!

Unfortunately I only have a tiny piece of that zig zag. I picked up a stripe yesterday and will try that out. Also, I'll be looking through my stash. Didn't get a chance to do that yesterday. I'm with you about being an inner border kinda gal!
